We are based out of a small community on the south side of Taos, New Mexico called Ranchos de Taos.
-
Most of our fishing takes places on The Rio Grande, from the Colorado State Line all the way down to Velarde. We also fish a vast number of other waters in the Taos and Northern New Mexico area that we fish like Red River, The Rio Costilla, The Rio Chama and many more.
-
We do both wade fishing and float boat fishing trips. We have both half day and full day options, with evening floats being offered between June and September. Half day and evening float trips are 4 hours long. Full day trips are 8 hours long. This does not include travel time to and from the river.
-
We provide all gear, as needed, on our trips. This included waders, wading boots, fly rod, flies and terminal tackle.
-
Mainly a water bottle, a rain jacket, sunglasses (polarized are best), and a hat. It’s always best to dress in layers, the weather is always changing and its nice to be able to adapt. We recommend staying away from cotton and wearing synthetics, since they will help keep you warm if wet.

We tailor each trip to your angling skill level and what you want to get out of the experience. Our patient, experience-driven approach ensures a full day of learning—not just about fly fishing, but also its history, the dynamic ecosystems fish inhabit, and the rich cultural heritage of Northern New Mexicos waterways.

Because we’re located in the Southwest at the base of the Southern Rocky Mountains, we enjoy excellent year-round fishing. No matter the season, there’s always fishable water—from the hottest days of summer to the coldest, snowiest days of winter. With a wide range of angling opportunities, including a large wild river, high-mountain creeks, alpine lakes, and lower-elevation lakes, there’s always a place to cast a line and a strong chance of catching fish.
-
Mostly Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Brook Trout and Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout. In the summer months we enjoy fishing for smallmouth bass, and we have a lake with a healthy population of Northern Pike.

We fish all weather and water conditions. Most of the time, we can just change our plan and go to a different river or creek. In the event of dangerous conditions, Ramblin' Fly Fishing will make the call, and the option to rebook will be offered or a full refund will be issued.
